Fuel Injection K-Jetronics

Mybenz Knowledge Base :: W126- 280SE Manual - Table of Content :: [FuelInjectionOne]

Details of the Fuel Injectors in 110 engines: K-Jetronic Systems come with either One or Two Fuel Pumps.

With TwoPump Systems One of the Pumps, (the LowPressurePump) is installed inside the Fuel Tank.
The ExternalFuelPump on both systems is the HighPressurePump (located near the right wheel).
These ExternalPumps may look the same as an EFI.

Caution when replacing Pump
Fit only Correct Part Number.
A Generic EFI Fuel Pump may not run a K-Jetronic System.

Possible problematic symptons

On TwoPump Systems
The IntankFuelPump has a FilterScreen or Sock which can become clogged with Debris.
If VehicleSurging is detected or
If the HighPressurePump is Noisy when the FuelReserve is Low or Hot
It could be caused by the failure of the IntankPump.
Test OutputPressure of the IntankPump is within the range of 15 to 40 kPa

One the most important thing to do in order to ensure the smooth running fumeless engine runs, is to adjust the Fuel Mixture, the sample below based on 560 SEL specification, may be applicable to other post 1987 SEL 560 SEL - Fuel Mixture Adjustment
