W124 - Rear Shock Replacement
Replacing the rear shocks is an easy and quick operation on these cars. All you need is a jack, some stands and two 17mm sockets for the strut/shocks bolts and lugbolts. Some WD-40 to spray on the bolts before loosening them can also be helpful, though Mercedes-Benz has been smart enough to cover these exposed areas with plastic covers to avoid too much rusting.

With the car on the ground, open the trunk and remove the side plastic covers inside the trunk. They are just molded to fit and pushed in place. You might want to remove the cover behind the seats to easier get out the plastic side covers.
