|Mercedes-Benz this morning released the first official pictures of the new S-Class, which is due to be shown at this fall's Frankfurt Auto Show and will go on sale in Europe in the fall.|
Set to go on sale in the U.S. early next year, the S-Class is about 1.7 inches longer, an inch wider and more than three inches longer in wheelbase than the car it replaces.
A new V-8 joins the S-Class lineup this ear, and features four valves per cylinder and variable valve timing. It's mated to a seven-speed automatic.
The new Mercedes immediately looks more imposing than today's S-Class (W220), with a sleeker nose, bulging wheel arches that make the wheels look small, and a tail that has hints of the latest Bentley and even Benz's own Maybach.
