Mercedes-Benz this morning released the first official pictures of the new S-Class, which is due to be shown at this fall's Frankfurt Auto Show and will go on sale in Europe in the fall.
Set to go on sale in the U.S. early next year, the S-Class is about 1.7 inches longer, an inch wider and more than three inches longer in wheelbase than the car it replaces.
A new V-8 joins the S-Class lineup this ear, and features four valves per cylinder and variable valve timing. It's mated to a seven-speed automatic.
The new Mercedes immediately looks more imposing than today's S-Class (W220), with a sleeker nose, bulging wheel arches that make the wheels look small, and a tail that has hints of the latest Bentley and even Benz's own Maybach.
