E220 Noob Hi all penghulus and sifus.
I've just bought my first merc, 1995 a e220 masterpiece and there is a few niggles and questions about it. 1. before starting and while driving, i hear a ticking noise like the sound when you turn on the indicators. Its not constant because when I drive, it will stop for a while before it starts ticking again. The sound was somewhere at the front passenger seat under the dashboard. Can anyone tell me what is causing the sound and how to solve it because its very annoying and worrying. 2. The knob to adjust the side mirror does not work for the left side. Is this a DIY-able fix or I have to go to the shops for this and how much its gonna cost me? 3. Being a noob Merc owner, I don't know how much to expect for a regular service. Some say its about 800++ to 1k++. can anyone tell me whats the price I should be expecting to pay? I hope all the euro penghulus sifus can help me. I'm very noob about this euro car stuff. Thanks a bunch. |

Re: E220 Noob Sir, Good Evening. Thanks for your GENERAL questions. We will need to know your mileage and roughly when was the last service done. The amount $ that you will have to spend will depend on the current condition of your car. The "additional" routine checks should include, auto gear box oil check & possible change of gear box oil, radiator condition.

Re: E220 Noob the mileage was about 198000 and from the maintenence book, it shows that the last service was about a month before. Got any recommendations on a good MB workshop in shah alam?

Re: E220 Noob Update. Help!!!!!! My merc suddenly cant start. Theres fuel in the tank and the battery seems to be ok judging that the radio and lights can be turned on. Can anyone help asap.....?????

1. i have no idea about it sir 2. if the switch got prob, its +-rm150 i think.. i replaced mine a couple of months back.. if wan to DIY, boleh try tapi the parts inside very small, kinda hard to fix back.. if the motor i have no idea..  3.regular service, if car no prob, just change the engine oil will do.. less than rm300 boleh dah.. depends what oil u're using.. Saya budak baru belajar, Kalau salah tolong tunjukkan

by kowreck maybe ur overload relay located behind the battery(have to open the black cover) rosak kot.. i kena aso few years back or fuel pump hope it helps.. might be wrong though

hi, selamat datang... 1. clicking sound? can be from many source...hard to say as can't see hope it's something minor though...and not a short circuit in action  can be a relay sound or something from the aircond system control unit...better get a mercedes mechanic to take a look quick, to be on the safe side... 2. check fuse...and then connection at the switch and also at the mirror...and then also check the condition of the motor... 3. since you just got your car, and assuming that you want to have all the oil, fluid and lube changed - depending on type and grade of oil used, i belive this one off service would touch the figure you mentioned. yup, maybe in the region of rm800 and not more...you should also budget and plan for parts change, step by step...talk more, so that can understand more |

Please check our directory listing on our website. There are about 3 choices in Shah Alam. If these workshops are listed, then it must have been recommended by some of our MYbenz members. My simple advice " choose a good workshop and stay with them". "Enjoy your Benz like I do" Best Wishes, JOE |

just got the car started yesterday. found out its the central locking system preventing the start. i just took out and reinstalled it and it started just fine. thanks for all the help. |
