You never fail to amazed me!

Yes, that's how it looks in the interior. The only difference is that my wood trim is Birdseye Maple Wood as I posted in the s320l thread which I think looks much better and suit the interior of the car.

i know bro but i cannot find the right side steering for what u mean but left side steering i find it bro!!

Salam Bro Mabel,

Congratulations on your acquisition of your W140, Mabel (the 1st) Alhamdullilah looks like you have a very nice unit with the nice options fitted out. I love the silver colour on the S class, it always makes it very distinguished, classy and timeless.

The common problems all W140's seem to have is the air-con blower regulator which seems to give way after a year. Kevin from Alpha car cooler Kelana Jaya retrofits early W210 new units from Behr which seems to have bigger heatsinks.

Another problem you may have is rear windows breaking the window regulators because of the sheer weight of the windows and the plastic components getting brittle. I read some-where Mercedes upgraded that paricular component a few different times because they keep changing or superseeding the part number.

There are some narrow car parks that you have to be aware of but can't recall at the top of my head at the moment, sorry have to ask the wifey.

Alhamdullillah and syukur to Allah on your brilliant purchase of Mabel and InsyaAllah you will have many trouble free and enjoyable years together.

Best regards and Wasalam

P.S. Sorry but you might need to consider changing your nick. or the car's, cos it's a bit confusing having your nick and the car having the same name. just my 2cents worth.

Thank you Tengku !

I'm glad you love the silver colour too and I agree it does look very distinguished, classy and timeless. It suit me well since my Mabellina and Mabelline are both dark colors. Hence it's nice to have a silver for a change.

Thanks for the tips with regards to the air cond blower and the window regulator. Learn something new today. With regards to the blower, does that mean if it happen next time, it's better to change it to Behr?

Agreed with you that parking can be a hassle. Luckily parking is not an issue going to work. If for shopping, I suppose I just have to plan my trip..kalau big shopping complex like KLCC, One Utama should be no problem. Kalau mid valley...I suppose I have to rely on my Mabellina or Mabelline..

On your last point, I suppose it's about about Branding. As you are aware, most corporation has their respective brand name e.g. Honda. They have Honda the owner, Honda the FI car, Honda, the Accord, Honda, the City, Honda the Civic...

Same here with Mabel. I have Mabel the Benzer, Mabel, the Cat and in this thread, Mabel, the Car..

Here one great song from you from Mabel, the Rock...

Having driven smaller and quicker cars in the past, driving this "tank" has been a new experience. The sheer size of this long wheel based version was overpowering to other road users. It takes a whole different style of driving to really appreciate its ride and handling. Slow and unhurried comes to mind but put pedal to metal and it just takes off easily and with great acceleration. The ride is the smoothest of any car I have driven, and the handling is unsurpassed for a car of this size and weight. On paper the 3.2 L M104 I6 engine does not look impressive with 228hp considering the weight of the car, but it moves this big car very well.

Just to give you flavor, here is a nice video to visualizes what I mean..this one from one of Mabel's cousins..

Salam and hello benzers!

It is a dream to drive on the open road and it feels downright fast on the highway cruising at 120km/h @2500rpm with the 5-speed 5G-TRONIC automatic. It seems to give better power at 3500 rpm and above.

...and if you are our TOP SPEEDER Ninjas, you will love this car too. Here is another video to visualize what I mean..again compliment from Mabel's cousin..

Re: Mabel, the Car

Thanks for all your well-wishes and feedbacks. I plan to put this thread together with Michelle, Melissa, Melodie and Mercedes on the front page of the W140 Club for future memberís references.

For those that are looking for this Super Model,

Here are some good tips for your references..

1. Be patient. Don't grab the first good car you see. These cars will always be available and often at a decent prices.
2. View and test drive as many cars as possible. You will see various conditions and pricings.
3. Always get the VIN number. Through this you will be able to know exactly where the car is from, what specs it has and what Year of Manufacture it really is. I came across a number of cars which does not tally with what was advertised.
4. Make sure the engine startup smoothly and idles w/o any vibration, cold start it should hover around 1500rpm and after 30seconds or so dropped below 1000 rpm.
5. Check for oil leak on steering box, gearbox, differential and engine head gasket. Check also for coolant leak.
6. Make sure the a/c starts blowing frigid air once started on AUTO. The automatic climate control should be able to keep the cabin at 19C even during hot weather.
7. Make sure the coolant temp maintains at 80C when driving.
8. Look at the coolant reservoir make sure coolant is clear and not murky. Remove the oil filler cap and make sure no sludge on it.
9. When you have narrowed down the cars you really want to buy, take it to a GOOD Mechanic and have it thoroughly checked out with a computer diagnosis. This is where you get all the hidden defects surfacing. You will have to pay a fee to get it done but it can save you from making a serious mistake. Do this BEFORE agreeing on a price. This way you know how much you must budget to make repairs and use the repair estimate to your advantage in your negotiations. Get your mechanic to look through the undercarriage for signs of accidents and take note of wear and tear items on the suspension that may need to be changed. During test drive check oil pressure (should be at 3bar), feel the shifting quality of the gearbox, paying attention for clunking sound coming from all directions including the long shaft.
10. Rest of the stuff to check is pretty cosmetics like windows, door lock, side mirrors adjust, test ABS function, folding action of side mirror, remote opening of trunk, trunk lid lever operational or not, adjustable front beam, signals, cruise controls, adjustable seat and headrest, wiper sensor .

I look forward to have anyone of you in our W140 team. Once you decided to pursue her take all the time you need.

Just ...PLEASE DONíT STOP THE MUSIC..
