Keys & mobile phone adapter As i was checking my owner's manual recently , i noticed a Diagnosis Assistance System printout on my c class vin code. They are all about my current meter reading , checking on key and key tracks & filter status on ECU.
2 things puzzles me : 1) Check all the key and key tracks, Control unit: EZS4 There are 18 key and key tracks with no 601 to 620 with actual values either : Enable, Used & Not Used . What are they ? 2) Filter status : All Control units ECU CTEL - Mobile phone adapter with universal interface MB number 2118703226. Does this mean the car is fitted/pre-installed with access to mobile phone ? And all i need is to get a phone connected to it then i will be able to use the multi-fuction steering's phone features ? Anyone have tried ? I will be very much interested ...... |

Hi jj711 I have my phone system working in my W203 and it's working fine. You just have to ensure that the cabling and phone jack/interface is present in your car. I believe that for W203 models from 2004 onwards there is usually a MHI or UHI interface built into the center arm rest. Models prior to this have a cradle/jack somewhere. You need to ensure that the above are in place before purchasing a phone adapter. Sometimes the configurations can be seen in your ECU but the cabling and interfaces are not there in your car. Hope this helps.

Re: Keys & mobile phone adapter Hi techjack
Glad to know that it works on your car. My is also a W203 C200K Av SE 2006 model. I saw the MHI/UHI interface inside the centre arm rest ( inside first layer arm rest ) and " some cable " inside the second layer storage box. Could this be the phone cable ? Or how can i determine that the phone cable do existed in my car ? It would be great if can use the multi-function steering wheel because i literally spend hours travelling in my car daily ! |

Hi jj Since you already have the MHI/UHI interface mentioned and cables as well it should be safe to assume that your car can be installed with a phone system. Assuming all above is ok, you have 2 options to get this working: 1. Bluetooth system (expensive) 2. Cradle system (cheaper) Both have pros and cons. Too long for me to type out and list here. Will briefly describe below. In summary I chose the bluetooth system which was more costly but works well. Pros: It connects to my mobile phone the moment i start up the car and I can use the dashboard console to dial and also utilize the steering buttons for most functions. Phonebook numbers get loaded into the adapter but this is subject to the type of phone and the amount of numbers. Cons: The bluetooth platform sometimes doesn't connect properly (just like bluettoth headsets). Workaround for this is a simple reset of the adapter. Bit of hassle if you are in a hurry. The Cradle system (Cheap). Pros: Guaranteed to work well. Clarity and signal strength assured (coz it will utilize the car external antenna). Phonebook numbers are guaranteed to be accessible. SMS can be sent, received and displayed (UNTESTED!) Cons: Separate SIM needed (means the car will have it's own SIM number). Phonebook needs to be maintained separately. In the end it's up to you which way you wish to go. Also depends how much you wish to spend. Hope this helps.

For the bluetooth system you can visit the below pages to make your purchase: http://www.comandonline.co.uk/ http://www.viseeo.com/ I purchased my MB-2 unit from Viseeo. Take note that Malaysian Customs will impose tax on the unit when it reaches Malaysia. You can also find bluetooth units from eBay (slightly cheaper). Hope this helps.
