got a 1994 s420 v8

a few questions


1. asr and abs light on after running a few km's

2. whats the original size for the battery?

3. speedometer stopped working after stupid noon mechanic wrongly jump start the car.+ to - and - to +. is there any fuse which is burnt?

4. normal operating temperature for s420 v8?

5. when engage to r , delay 1 seconds then it changes gear.
then shifts to d , delay 1 seconds then it is engagged.Gear box problem?

6. what gearbox oil is recommended?

4. I suppose this should be in accordance the standard Operation temperature for M/Benz Engine is 80'c - 110'c

When The Engine Coolant Temperature reach the Maximum 110'c, the Cooling Fan (addition air con fan @ auxiliary fan)
The Suction Fan (control unit operated)should Cut-in with Fully Operation (High Speed)to cooling down the system to prevent the engine from overheating

120'c is a maximum temperature (OVERHEATED)
The engine Should STOP ... For Cooling Down
(You May realize THE AIR CON SYSTEM is WARM)

130'c is too late ... ENGINE IS ALREADY OVERHEATED !!!

5. 1 second is not that bad by my standard after all this car has been around.

thankks for thee repply mabel..actually i bought the w203 and then fall in love with the w140.so i decided to go for the v8 engine rather than the in line 6.

overall the unit i bought is in good condition.its a royalty car actually from n9.

all vacuum doors working. will upload more pics when i'm free

This was the car i were looking before.The deal was concluded at the end of may where i pay cash for the s420.
It took almost 2 month for the dealer to do the owner transfership because the previous owner was in Sri Lanka.

I get the contacts of the reliable mechanic from Bro Mabel and so the mechanic went to check the car for me.
He said no problem so i took it straight away.

I just got the car a few days ago and i am very impress with the condition.Just a few touch up and i am ready to go

Things to do -

Change engine oil
Change gearbox oil
Retint the whole 6 windows
Skimming on the front and rear disc
Change the 4 tires
Change the battery

All those will cost money but its worth the hassle.

The car is quite nice to drive but i need to change the tires to maybe 245/50 for more comfort ride.BTW i am on 18" carlsson rims.Width 8.5jj.

Any comment on supercharging this v8?
