I guess to get a balanced view of the recommendations one should look at the postings within the forum. To be completely unbiased it would be best not to list or recommend any workshops on the forum officially, that way all recommendations are via member discussions rather than through direct endorsement by the forum.

Salam and hello benzers,

……been thinking while flying back home ….

Sometimes, good things happen when you have a “crisis”…

One thing I learn in life is that when you have a situation, bring up to the table and be straight forward and honest about it…hence, this is what I think…

When I started to become active in this Forum, one of the questions I asked was if members here can share their favorite workshops. I realized that many were quite reluctant to share in the beginning and I’ve even seen comments like “Tak Brani”. Now I understand why….

From my personal assessment, I noticed that most members here are pretty helpful and are sincere in helping fellow benzers, new or old. I for once believe, the person who recommends this workshop has done it with good intention and good will. Beside, he is also considered as one of the respected benzer here who has shared a lot of this thought and experience with us in this community. Even though, I have not sent my car to this workshop, I have heard many positive comments from benzers and even from my KLIA Airport Limo driver who used to send his E220 Mercedes to Ah Sang; when Airport Limo were using E220 chauffeuring peoples to the airport.

If you care to observe, every time when a new member comes on board, one of their favorite question is where to send their car for repair. Hence, perhaps this could be one of the reasons why Bro Buck’s has set his milestone in the thread below:

http://www.mybenz.org/zoopp/html/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=7667=1

After reading the above thread, I too feel inspired and took a personal interest seeking friends here to start listing their favorite workshops. So far it’s have been taken positively by Benzers which has contributed to 4 recommendations made to date. Believe me, all this were done with good intentions, goodwill and most importantly, with absolutely no business interest what so ever. Truly, kerana Allah!.

Hence, my question to the floor is how one person with good intention and goodwill could be totally responsible over something that he’s absolutely no control off. By doing this we are killing great initiatives and believe me in future, members here will be pretty timid to make new recommendations. This is totally unacceptable as it will kill all creativities we have here in this Forum….

Talking about responsibility, it has to be a two way street. Since one of the posts here introduce the term “oldbies and newbies”, let’s use it…

While the “oldbies” took responsibility to stick their neck to recommend, it also has to be the responsibility of “newbie’s” to take heed some cautions when visiting any of these recommended workshops. As we are dealing with peoples and timing, always have this in mind that one experience may differ from another person’s experience. Hence, the best assessment has to come from one own personal judgments. After all, we are a bunch of professionals and as concluded in one of our favorite thread ”Merc is an old man car” ; only mature intelligent people drives this car. Hence, in reality this should have been a non-issue i.e. to make our own judgement.

Here is some word of advice which I would like to share on how to pick your mechanic and workshop:

http://www.mybenz.org/zoopp/html/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=8631&forum=1

Coming back to hoggies 2nd points, if we think there is a potential risk that this situation may happen again in future, perhaps we should reconsider having this list in the 1st place and take hoggies’s advice to go for a total unbiased platform. Any new requests will be dealt with discussions via members rather than through direct endorsement from the forum. To be honest, actually, this is not a bad idea as it encourages more interactive discussion between members….hence lebih mesra lagi…

However, if we still feel there is still a need to have an endorsement list, perhaps we need to re-look at how this will be handled. Bro Buck’s suggestion could be one. I do agreed on the need to continue reassessing these workshops as past references should not be an instant insurance to continue to stay in this list. By doing this, we can ensure that all benzers will get access to the best of this FOC service. If we choose this track, someone will definitely need to look at this and will require resources. That someone needs to address the following questions: WHAT, WHY, HOW, WHO and WHEN in order to be objective. Lastly but not least, I wish to make a humble request from members to practice restrain when passing remarks. This is like a double sword …

What we do not want here is to “destroy” the feeling of brotherhood which is the strength of this community..

What do you think? Which one should we choose?

1. Andragogy: Unbiased discussions via members as per need to know basis.
2. Pedagogy: Direct endorsement from the Forum

Just in case:
Pedagogy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedagogy
Andragogy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andragogy

Salam all Sis and Bro Mybenzer's,

Bro Mabel you are 1,000% correct, and i really, really reaallly Love your answer which is very positive, constructive and encouraging and full of wisdom. I earlier felt compelled to write and be the devil's advocate but i would have probably ended up being hated and cursed by more than 40 people and God forbid it may have come true.

Whilst I understand and symphatise with Bro Hazman, there's an English or Latin saying "Buyer Beware" which will be hold through probably till the end of time.

Peace be upon to all,

Dear Bro Mabel,
You are truly great! Only great people speak like that!
I wish you were the PM of M'sia & I truly respect your unbiased & most mature comment(s) on every topic(s) which never fail to impress my intelligence, & especially on the part that we should not destroy the brotherhood feeling in this forum. That's right. I like this forum is because of this feeling where a total stranger can connect so easily and instantly become brothers.

I suppose finding a good mechanic is just like finding a good wife by applying the same logic. If can't find a beautiful one, move on, there are so many beautiful fishes in the big ocean.

It is not good to continue a forum that talks bad about a recommended mechanic/workshop because it then becomes a personal attack and the other party is not given a chance to defend himself. Perhaps we should have a system to rate the recommended mechanic/workshop by attaching some kind of a "star" rating, like in the movie rating but this in itself is no guarantee for love at first sight.

That brings us to Dr.Gan but unfortunately he is too far away.

Cheers & long live MyBenz!

Bro Mabel, your posting and comments always excite me in reading this forum....termasuk all the pictures to relate with your emotions....hehehhe....(always pretty looking girls/woman and cartoons) sort of like EMOTICONS

anyway, we are very sorry for Bro.Hazman predicament, but the experienced with certain workshop are truly subjective..

remember that we had a very bad moments with a certain workshop?

if we asked their regular customers, the feedback will be different and positive......and sometimes negative feedback akan ada kepada sesapa yang tak biasa with the workshop....

for example, i have one fav.workshop that are near to my place, i'm ok with their services sometimes marah jugak kekadang tu ada problem here n there, but for me they did a good job....tapi bila i recommend to my friends, a few yg tak berapa serasi and gave negative feedback....things happened....

but dont stop the good discussion we have here in the forum....hanya kita jgn drag everyone else deeper and the result? mybenzers tak nak discuss anything related to this matter in the future macam statement Bro.Mabel.

but, hey, we are benzers, we are customers and we do have our rights....(dah macam statement NGO plak)...if got problems, we discuss, we get feedback and we forward it to the respective personnel so that things settled...macam BRo hoggies mentioned earlier, do inform Ah Sang so that his workshop could improved and be better.

thanks....

Salam to all,

I've been to Ah Sang a few times. My advise is to avoid his workshop if u r going for a minor repair or service. The q is so long and I believed it's worth paying additional premium going to other workshop.

However Ah Sang is the one u should really consider for major repair works or when ur regular workshop fails to resolve your problem. That's how I got to know this wonderful chap. He diagnose my problem just by listening to the car and pin point it's defect. For the time being he's been correct 100%.

Of course he rely on his mechanics to do the work and most of the time without his supervision. This is where sometimes things can go wrong. He's only human and i don't expect him to be perfect either.
