So I wonder what the fuel subsidy is going to be like. RM1.80 for the first 500L of petrol, then afterthat? RM2.70 unsubsidised?

The fuel subsidy system scam shows how stingy and selfish the government are.

A little distraction. Imagine, for 50 years over of independence, there are still areas without electricity and clean tap water. Yet, every year in the budget, there will be allocations for roads, electricity and water supply for the rural areas. Where does the money go?

And they are now collecting the money back from the people. And they will say that they are not making money out of people's hard earned money...

The RON 95 propaganda, fuel subsidy, etc...etc... I never believed in them anymore!

2009/10/26

KUALA LUMPUR: The Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Ministry will announce the fuel subsidy management mechanism system early next year at the latest.

Its minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the announcement will be made after the ministry has completed study on the best way to give the subsidy and identify the group that really needs the subsidy.

"The targeted group is being determined, who and how, we will announce soon, maybe next year, maybe by the end of this year," he told reporters in the lobby of Parliament here today.

Ismail Sabri was commenting on the announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on the fuel subsidy management system that will be implemented early next year to ensure that only the targeted group benefitted when tabling the 2010 Budget on Oct 23.

Najib said the approach of giving subsidy only to targeted groups will also be used for other commodities.
Ismail Sabri said presently the subsidy was being enjoyed by almost all Malaysians irrespective of being rich or poor.

"At this time the subsidy is given all, even Thais can buy fuel cheap at Rantau Panjang, anyone in Malaysia, be they foreigners, the rich also get the subsidy.

"So this means the government is spending a lot but not for the targeted group that really should get it," he said.
While tabling the 2010 Budget, Najib said the government will implement the fuel subsidy mangement system early next year using the MyKad and existing infrastructure.

Here is our future scenario ...

- EXPENSIVE PETROL
- OVER PRICE NEW CAR
- NO MORE CHEAP USED PART
- PUSPAKOM LINE UP
- NO RECOND CAR

You just cannot have high price for petrol and car, while the state of public transport is best described as appalling. It has to be balanced, give and take. One party cannot take all the time. Some party has to give in. The question is who?

Nasib baik Mybenzer is forward thinking and has came up with 20 tips to save your fuel bills...

OK Guys, here are 20 Tips to off-set our G new initiative.

20 Tips to cut the cost of your fuel bills.

1.Find the best fuel that gives you the best fuel consumption.

2.Pump up your tyres. Under-inflated tyres create more rolling resistance and so use more fuel. Go to your local petrol station and use their pump – it is normally free.

3.Put your car on a low fat diet. An extra 50kg will increase your petrol consumption by an average of 2%. Declutter your car boot, and keep anything non-essential at home and not in your car.

4.Streamline. Roof racks and bicycle carriers create extra wind resistance and so increase fuel consumption. If you do not need it, take it off.

5.Turn off the air-conditioning. It increases your petrol consumption by as much as 10 per cent – so if it is only mildly warm, put the fans on or wind down your window. That said, if you are traveling over 60mph having the window down increases drag which increases your fuel consumption – so air conditioning would be better.

6.Stick to the limits. The faster you go, the more fuel you use. Driving at 70mph uses up to 9% more fuel than at 60mph and up to 15% more than at 50mph, according to statistics.

7.Change your oil. Clean oil reduces the wear caused by friction of moving engine parts, helping to improve fuel consumption. You should change the oil in a petrol car once a year or every 7500 miles. For a diesel engine it is recommended you change the oil every 6 months or 3000 miles.

8.Drive Smoothly. Acceleration and deceleration is what uses most fuel – so try to slow down gradually at lights, avoid heavy braking and try not to rev too much.

9.Avoid rough surfaces. Gravel or heavy dirt surfaces can increase your fuel consumption by up to 30% – not to mention the affect on your paintwork. If there is a route involving smooth tarmac, even if it is slightly longer, then take that.

10.Rather obviously… use your car less. Combine short trips – such as buying the paper, dropping-off the recycling, or collecting the kids – rather than making multiple short trips. Consider cycling instead for short journeys.

11.Go slow on a cold engine. Cold engines use twice as much fuel as a warm engine, and catalytic converters take 6 miles to become effective. So avoid either short trips completely or drive efficiently until the engine has warmed up. Journeys typically 2-3 miles long will considerably increase your fuel consumption.

12. Consider converting to NGV.

13. Use fuel saving cars.

14. Use technology like Fixed & mobile Phone, Internet, Video Conferences. This will lessen your dependent on car and fuels.

15. Avoid dark color car. Choosing a lighter color will mean less heat absorption which will gives less stress to car air condition system....less fuel..

16. Choose the right tires for your car.

17. Choose the right rim for your car.

18. Consider car pooling or public transport

19. Tint your car. Tinted car can also save some fuel coz if your car is cool, you don’t need to turn on air-condition

20. Go on Diet including your family as every 50KG and save 2% of your fuel consumption.

Compliments from BHP and MyBenz...

Still no news on the Fuel Subsidy, with the price of oil now almost at $80 USD I expect the price of petrol is going to go up. we just don't know by how much.

.....The details of the implementation not yet announced by the government. However there was news reported that the subsidy system is as follow,

- No subsidy for foreigners and the vehicles with the engine capacity 2.0 (L) cc above
- 50% subsidy for car engine in between 1.5 (L) cc and 2.0 (L) cc
- 100% subsidy for engine 1.5 (L) cc below

If this is how the new fuel subsidy works, obviously the intention is to have only the low and middle income group Malaysian enjoys the subsidy by the government. Anyway, this is not the official announcement from the government, do wait and see what the new fuel subsidy system is in year 2010.....

Cannot understand how the G to implement this without incurring additional cost n manpower!!

What they forget to compute is that these rich n foreigners are paying higher income tax (maybe more than the petrol consumed)to the G.

As for the foreigner across the border, if im not mistaken the Singapore govt imposed the ruling that any Singaporean cars going to Johore must have at least 3/4 petrol in their cars. Why can't they do the same thing at the Thailand border? After that while in Malaysia they shud be considered as tourist... Hope Tourism Board give this a thought

Conclusion: The G is too protective for the lesser income earner resulted them becoming more 'manja' n the hardworker citizens being 'tortured'..alamak apa nak jadi..
