Rusty water Hello sifus
I have been facing an issue lately Every 2-3 days, I have a warning sign indicating lack of water in radiator. When top up water, noticed that water inside brownish in colour. However engine temperature remains 80-90 on running condition with traffic jam from time to time Recently I have serviced my radiator and changed my thermostat. Currently not using coolant as per advice from my foreman. He claims that the coolant will eventually eat up relevant parts Anyone faced this problem before? |

Small stains or an occasional drop of fluid under your vehicle may not mean much. But wet spots deserve attention; check puddles immediately. You can identify fluids by their color and consistency: • Yellowish green, pastel blue or florescent orange colors indicate an overheated engine or an antifreeze leak caused by a bad hose, water pump or leaking radiator. • A dark brown or black oily fluid means the engine is leaking oil. A bad seal or gasket could cause the leak. • A red oily spot indicates a transmission or power-steering fluid leak. • A puddle of clear water usually is no problem. It may be normal condensation from your vehicle's air conditioner. Changing the radiator cap is the 1st thing I would do.. On your last point, your mechanic is right. ![]()

Re: Rusty water Hello Tuan Mabel and fellow Benzers
Sorry for the delay on updates regarding this issue. My mechanic flushed out all those brown rusty water, replaced all the hoses and added coolant. So far no more problems on this matter My 124 went for a number of repairs further than just rusty water. Car's fuel relay, fuel pump, fuel filter, injectors, belt absorbers and tensioner, thermostat, welding silinder head...list goes on...bottom line...matters concerning my engine stalling, temperature rise and daily filling up of water have been addressed It has been bout a week so far and only issue I'm facing now is my timing from time to time. Car stationery or on first gear/reverse gear, the RPM needle fall to/below 500. Other than that all OK for now. One significant difference I feel now is superb power gain and fuel efficiency ![]() |
