Re: fuel also I probably can help you, because my dad owns the same model as you. If you fill in rm50 of petrol (rm1.75/ L), about 28 litre, how many km you can travel? If you want to try my solution, feel free to contact me at 013 3791 147. Once i sprayed wd 40 directly into throttle body while engine is running, then spray in contact cleaner, and water. Yes, water (H20). Sounds ridiculous, but i did anyway. no problem so far.
Some may say, wd40 will ruin the rubber o rings. So, you do the some test by submerging rubber o rings into wd40, see if anything happens. I am telling you, nothing happens. Another thing is, what kind of engine oil are you using. Some say as cars get older, use thicker oil. Unless you want a thick soot build up at your tail pipe, use proper grade oil. Right now, i am using 5w30 semi sinthetic oil, from Perodua, and some additive. The engine is clocking 200k miles, and has never been rebuild. Not too sure about the tranny. Some minor leak at cover gasket, and once in a while, need to topup engine oil. But great news, no engine oil on the floor when i park in the garage. Happy motoring folks! ![]() |

myv6, The soot has nothing to do with the viscosity of the engine oil one uses, but rather the type of base oil the engine oil is based on. The soot is carbon, so use a Group V/ ester-based oil and you should not have soot. Group V motor oils are the best, but only a handful of manufacturers use Group V base oils due to the cost. Cheers, Mike

Re: fuel also Hi mikeklh, thank you for the enlightment. I tried to find articles relating engine oil viscosity and soothy tailpipe, and guess what, i found none. Soothy taipipe mainly caused by incomplete combustion, which is more apparent if you have removed the catalytic converter from the exhaust system. Some of the articles even suggest on older high mileage engine (like my dad's 124), new synthetic oil have stronger cleaning agent compared to normal mineral oil. The cleaning agent will strip carbon and varnish from the combustion chamber's wall, that will result new passage that were not present before the oil change, allowing engine oil to get pass through piston rings, thus smokey tailpipe after the oil change.
The reason i wrote the comment previously? Well probably i tried to prove something, but failed, hehe ![]() |
